How to Rip Wood on a Table Saw

One of the most common things that you will be required to do when working with wood is to rip or cut wood along the grain.

Set the distance between the saw fence and blade to the width of the finished piece you want. Ensure that there is nothing anywhere near the blade and turn on the table saw. Place the work piece onto the face of the saw in front of the blade, with the right side against the fence. For accurate result, keep the leading right corner of the work piece tight against the fence when the blade enters the end of the work piece. Making sure that the right edge is always tight against the fence push the board through the saw.

Being mechanized equipment, the table saw is one of the more dangerous woodworking tools. The saw moves at a very fast speed and is capable of cutting anything that comes its way. You need to be cautious that you keep your left hand well out of the way of the saw when you reach the end of the board. Push the board all the way through with your right hand, always keeping it close to the fence and away from the saw.

You now have the piece you have just cut to the left of the blade and the piece you pushed through the blade in your right hand. With the piece you have in your right hand push the piece to the left away from the blade.
